Steve has over thirty
years of teaching experience, with ages ranging from under six to
over seventy five, even teaching two thalidomide boys to play the
trumpet!
Before moving to London Steve was a professor
of Trombone and Tuba for the Ministry of Defense training musicians
for ceremonial duties, Playing trombone in the Syd Lawrence Orchestra
and working for the BBC. It was during this time that Steve started
flight training at the Yorkshire Gliding Club at Sutton Bank.
After moving to London from Leeds he gained his
PPL in the early 1980’s whilst working as a session musician
and teaching for the London Borough of Hounslow. After flying around
in a group owned PA28 140 from Leavesden and Elstree for a few years
he obtained his CPL in the early 1990’s, Flying Instructor
and Instrument Ratings mid 1990’s and finally ATPL exams at
the end of the 1990’s.
At the moment Steve is currently involved with
teaching commercial pilots [how to teach ground school] on the Flying
Instructor Course at Andrewsfield in Essex for Carol Cooper [of
Pilot Magazine Fame!]. He can also be seen flying the DH 82a tiger
moth for Classic Wings at the Imperial War Museum Duxford.
Steve has flown various aircraft types from old
Austers up to and including the BE200 King Air turboprop and holds
CAA authorization to undertake flight tests for the old C of A.
